casting

My group finally decided on a song. It is a mixture of soul and Indi genre. The music style is quite similar to Amy Winehouse and Nora Jones.  

It is quite moody and it is performed my a solo artist. The casting might be slightly difficult for this song, because of the original artists African ethnicity. The song includes live instruments and harmonies which we could possibly use to include more people in the production. The song is called The Space by Edy Blu. Edy Blue is a black female artist so when we cast the singer we need to be true to the ethnicity of the original artist. 

In Hurtwood there is a small number of black female students which makes casting the singer more difficult. Especially because we wouldn't be the only group wanting most of the girls to star in our music video. So far we have narrowed down our casting list to four female black students in Hurtwood. There was another candidate for the main singer, but we decided not to cast her because of her being and A2 (she can only be in one music video) and because she has a packed schedule and that would make it quite hard to work with her. We are considering another A2 student, so far it seems like she is keen to be involved, but we will have to do a shoot rehearsal to see if she can deliver the performance to the song well. The same we will have to do with three other A1 students. We are going record a video of them lip syncing the first verse/chorus and then

 choose the best one. We are looking for a stylish girl, with personality that is very confident and won't be shy infant of the camera since every shot we will film will be of her. 

Today I will check with Leni, who is one of our candidates, to see if she is still interested in doing our music video and if she didn't agree to be in another music video, since she can only be in one. It is very important for our group to finish casting soon so we can move on to the next stage, otherwise we we wouldn't be able to find a strong face and personality to carry this song, we would have to  abort this project and start from scratch.
