In today's technical lesson with mat we learned to manoeuvre lights and screens in the studio. In the lesson we used a prime lens se to 50 frames per sec. We learned what base level means: it is the camera, tripod and set lighting. We also learned about the Red head light and Scrim, which is a protective shield for when the light blows. To make the lights softer we used gels and frost, it has a wax feel texture. This is also called a spun, we use it to defuse/break up the light.
Single point lighting is when we use a single source lighting which hits the target. A three point lighting when we use three light sources to hit the target. Key light is the most important on set a fill light is slightly less powerful than key lighting. Blonde lighting is the brightest light, we raise it up on a tripod facing down, this light helps to bring out the subject from the background.
The blade runner is a beauty lighting that we tried in the lesson. It was my favourite style of lighting. During this technique we used a Matt box, that helps to cut out the dirty lighting.
Matt also showed us a great big gel sheet. Also used to break up lighting. The human body can be used to bounce light in the subject.
Foto-FLO, Photon Beard Uk and Florissant tube lights with gels are very often used in the studio, they create intense colour lighting.
This workshop was very useful for me, I could try to operate the lights in the studio, adjust the camera and the light settings and position it how I wanted to create the effect I desired for each shot. This workshop has prepared me well for the shoot day and has given me ideas on how to use the lighting in our shoot.
